An Elizabeth Emanuel sketch of royal bridal gown ideas submitted to and published by Vogue, 1981, signed and dated 1981, the pencil sketches highlighted with watercolour, depicting a bridal gown remarkably similar to the one eventually agreed upon with Princess Diana, with pencil dedication `To dear Felicity, As Seen in Vogue', All our love Elizabeth & David, 42 by 50cm, 16 1/2 by 19 1/2in Felicity Clark was Beauty Editor at Vogue and was one of the people at Vogue responsible for introducing Diana to the Emanuels.

The ivory tulle petticoat worn by Princess Diana, 1981, the tulle by John Heathcoat, with simple petersham waisband and multiple layers of tulle over a silk inner lining, waist 61cm, 24in; and a letter of authenticity signed by Elizabeth Emanuel (2) Diana wore this petticoat under the toile for the fittings and it was used for the dress rehearsal at St. Paul's cathedral and at the Royal Mews where she practised getting in and out of carriages.

An ivory taffeta over-skirt, 1981, the waistline and hem trimmed with lace, spangled with pearls and sequins, waist 61cm, 24in; and a letter of authenticity signed by Elizabeth Emanuel This skirt was made as a precaution in case Princess Diana spilled something down the front of her skirt. Luckily it was not required on the day and is in pristine condition!

An Emanuel ivory paper taffeta bridal gown which was tried on by Princess Diana, 1981, un-labelled, with broad flounce to neck and central bow, double flounced cuffs, the waist outlined in pearl beads, trained skirt, bust 86cm, 34in, 66cm, 26in; together with a page taken from a magazine showing the gown and a letter of authenticity signed by Elizabeth Emanuel, (3) In `A Dress for Diana' p.52 the Emanuels write `This sample of one of the wedding dresses from an early Emanuel collection was photographed for several magazines. Diana tried it on when she first came in to see us to discuss her wedding dresss and because she like the silhouette very much, it was used as a template for the dress we created for her.'

A carriage parasol, the white satin canopy 1980, the frame late 1830s-early 1840s, probably by Brigg, the folding gilt-brass stem embossed with a royal crown, carved ivory grip, 93cm, 36 1/2in long; and a letter of authenticity signed by Elizabeth Emanuel (2) This parasol was one of two made in case it rained on the wedding day. The canopies were made in ivory - to match the dress and white - to confuse prospective spies about the true colour scheme for the wedding.
