			What we sell We sell antique costume through to 20th century street fashion and haute couture. Our sales include accessories, luggage, costume jewellery, fashion illustrations, literature, and photographs, fabric swatch books, Oriental and European textiles, quilts, samplers, needleworks linen and lace. We hold two major auctions a year in association with Sotheby’s entitled ‘Passion for Fashion’, and in addition up to six auctions at our studio in West Dulwich. The closing date for the Sotheby’s sale is usually 8 weeks before and for the Martell Road auction about two weeks before. The sale dates are posted on the top right side of the home page and are regularly updated. If you would like to keep informed as to when a sale is to take place then please email us your details and we will add them to our database so that you receive auction alerts. Valuations We are able to assist in appraising costume and textiles for sale, donation or insurance purposes. Over the last twenty five years Kerry has undertaken valuations for many of the major British museums, British and European Royal households, major Country Estates, University colleges, ecclesiastical bodies through to small collections put together by private individuals. Valuation charges vary depending on the size of task involved, but do feel free to email us for further information. Saleroom valuations are free of charge and are always of course subject to actual physical inspection of the piece. Please email us images with details of condition, and marks/labels/dates/signatures that may be relevant. Staining, fading, alterations of textiles and costume should be noted. If you prefer, you can ring to make an appointment to see us. Free saleroom valuations are undertaken at our warehouse in South London and occasionally at Sotheby’s New Bond Street but strictly by appointment. Auction catalogue The auction catalogue is available on-line by clicking the current auction button above and also appears on www.invaluable.com. A printed catalogue for our ‘Passion for Fashion’ sales is also available by post, see catalogue subscriptions below for details. Commission bids If you have never bid with us you will need to email or fax us proof of your identity such as a copy of your driver’s licence. Even though you may have been a Sotheby’s client for many years, we are totally different companies and do not share client information, so you may need to register again with us. We cannot accept bids without proof of identity. When leaving your bid please bear in mind that there is a 20% buyer’s premium that will also be applied to your bid. The premium is subject to VAT at the prevailing rate. For faxed commission bids, please send to the fax number listed under ‘Contact Us’. For your ease you can download the bid slip which, when completed, can be faxed to us. Private Treaty Sales In addition to the regular auctions we also sell collections and individual pieces by private treaty. If you are seeking a particular item please email us details and we can try to locate the piece for you. Private treaty items are available for inspection by appointment. Email us if you require further details. Purchase Advice Obviously purchase advice within one of our own auctions is at no charge. We can supply you with detailed condition reports, digital images and bidding advice. Catalogue Subscriptions For a minimum of two sales per year the annual subscription cost is UK £24.00 Europe £30.00, Rest of World £36.00. You can also purchase individual catalogues for £12 UK, £15 Europe, £18 Rest of World. You can pay by sterling cheque or credit card. If paying by credit card either telephone or fax us with your card details: the number, expiry date and CVS Security code on the card.
